Lightwood Park’s future is set

The concrete was poured at Clennett's Lightwood Park development on Tuesday, December 14.

It is hoped the venue will be considered as a base for one of the elite teams participating in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, to be held in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20, 2023.
The facility is set to become a become a premier venue for soccer in Tasmania
The Kingborough Chronicle caught up with of Kingborough Lions United Football Club president Brian Downes and club secretary Cathy James on Sunday, December 5, during the Kingborough Football Tasmania Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) festival at Twin Ovals.
Brian Downes outlined plans for the future of the Club and the Clennett's Lightwood Park site.
Mr Downes said the proposed development includes an extension of the main pitch, to meet FIFA international standards, and a new building on the northern side of the grounds.
The northern building will be in three stages.
The first stage involves the development of the downstairs section, at the western end, to be immediately followed by the second stage, including the completion of the downstairs section.
The third section, including an upstairs viewing area, will be completed later.
