Kingborough Knights win the Kookaburra Cup

In an outstanding performance the Kingborough Knights were triumphant taking out the final of the women’s Kookaburra Cup.

On Saturday, February 23, at Blundstone Arena the Knights stormed home to smash University with a 10-wicket win, in a one-sided game after the Lions started well.
The Knights won the toss and bowled first, keeping University to only 150 runs in 35 overs.
The Lions were sitting on 2-95 when Lauren Hepburn struck, turning the tide of the game taking three of the next four wickets as the Lions collapsed with five for 17 to be all out for 150 in their innings.
Lauren Hepburn was exceptional with the ball with figures of 4-18 off eight overs.
L. Wierenga 2/39 and keeper R. Styles took three catches.
Knights captain, Bonnie Davis was awarded player of the match for her unbeaten 67 which formed part of the 151-opening partnership with Brooke Hepburn (57no) that set the scene for the match, chasing down the target in the 23rd over.
As the Knights started the run chase Bonnie Davies and Brooke Hepburn hit seven boundaries each in the much-celebrated win for the team.
