Saltbush Learning Centre progress

Saltbush Learning Centre progress

The Tasmanian Government is building six new child and family learning centres, with construction underway for the new Saltbush Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC) in Kingston since April.
Liberal Member for Franklin Dean Young visited the CFLC last week to check up on the progress.
Mr Young said these centres offer a variety of critical services in one place to support families with children from birth to age five.
Each of these new centres is being tailored to meet the needs of their community.
Locals have been involved in the layout, services and even the name of the new Kingston centre.
"The name 'Saltbush' was selected through consultation with the local community," Mr Young explained.
"Saltbush is a distinctive native plant that grows throughout the local area, and its name reflects the centre's position between the salt (the coast) and the bush."
The Kingborough Child and Family Learning Centre recently held a workshop to allow local parents to offer their input on how Saltbush CFLC should be run.
The group discussed how the centre can offer accessibility, inclusivity, embrace all cultures and be a safe space for all children and families.
Kingborough CFLC thanked the attendees for their willingness to give their time and their insight.
"Together we can create the conditions for lifelong learning and wellbeing," the centre said on a Facebook post.
The Saltbush Child and Family Learning Centre is expected to open in 2024.
