Taroona teacher's son shock cancer

Tasmanian musician and Head of Metal, Design and Technology at Taroona High School Tyler Richardson had to suddenly pack up for Melbourne with his wife, Alix, and their one-year-old son Harris, who was diagnosed with cancer.
Tyler and Alix will not be able to work for the next six to 12 months whilst Harris is being treated in the children's hospital.
Tyler's best friend Patrick Marshall set up a GoFundMe page for the family with a target to raise $60,000.
Over twice that amount has been donated, with approximately 1700 donations adding up to an impressive $152,403 raised for the Richardsons.
"Tyler and Alix took Harris to the doctor as he had been really unsettled and unwell for a number of weeks," Patrick said.
"Luckily the doctor they saw on the day referred them to a paediatrician, who quickly realised something wasn't right.
"Upon arrival at the hospital they discovered a growth in his abdomen, which turned out to be cancerous.
"Tyler and Alix have done so much for so many people, they are generous with both their time and money, and this fundraiser was a way for everyone they have touched to return the favour."
Support for the family has come from across the state, both near and far.
Taroona High School principal Charles White said "The Taroona High School (THS) community are actively supporting the Richardsons".
"Students and staff are raising awareness of their situation, the related charities that support childhood cancer and the families of those affected.
"Members of the THS community have been active in their support of the GoFundMe page and the THS staff have the opportunity to support the Richardson's through a range of social and fundraising initiatives."
