Social connections during Seniors Week

Social connections during Seniors Week

This year’s Seniors Week, held from October 15 to 21, was enjoyed throughout Kingborough with events that promoted healthy ageing, while providing opportunities to celebrate older people and facilitate community participation and connection.

This year’s theme was Food, Glorious Food.
To celebrate, Christian Homes Tasmania Inc., held the first event of their new Community Services division, with a Walk and Picnic at Dru Point, Margate for their home care clients on Tuesday, October 16.
They were joined by volunteers from the Heart Foundation Walking Group, the Peter Murrell Walkers, who strolled along the paths of Dru Point Bicentennial Park happily chatting away with their walking buddies.
Lindy Rose, the Events and Marketing Coordinator at Christian Homes Tas Inc. organised the event to make the home care clients more connected to the community, and anticipates it will be the first of many.
The 11 clients who attended the event all enjoyed getting out of the house, keeping active and socialising.
After the leisurely walk the group enjoyed a picnic together.
